It’s simple; just flick your wrist and your arm turns into an actual touch screen. A group of French designers are looking to bring a whole new approach to the way we use wearable technologies. So just for a second, forget Apple Watch, and meet the Cicret Bracelet – the so called “revolutionary tech” of 2015.
The Cicret Bracelet is a small, sleek bracelet packed with a punch. It syncs with your smartphone and then uses a pico-projector in conjunction with a multitude of sensors to display a smartphone sized projection right onto your skin. And all it takes to operate is your very own fingers. No tiny interface, no heavy bracelet, no phone in hand, just a projection.
So what can it do? Like most smart watches, the Cicret Bracelet allows you to use the projection as you would your tablet. You can receive emails, play games, and browse the Internet thanks to its built in Wi-Fi. You can also answer calls with a tap on the arm because Cicret also comes equipped with built in Bluetooth. And, what’s really cool is that it can be used in the water.
According to the team, the thing that makes this particular tech so revolutionary is its effective use of these four features:
- Projects with a low angle
- Works on any skin color
- Controllable with the fingers
- Works in bright daylight
The team currently to date has a working prototype of the bracelet, but unfortunately for now, is just in its infant stages and won’t be hitting markets anytime soon.
Our Take
What makes this wearable so different from other wearable tech? What makes it special?
The Cicret Bracelet is no doubt futuristic in look, but its capabilities, like most wearable tech, is lacking. For us, “revolutionary” is a heavy term to use, and at the end of the day, it is just another accessory to the phone.
Eventually, it may integrate with a useful application, but for now the real innovation of this product lies in its new way to interface with technology.
